1:17Now PlayingThe preppy Princeton man accused of killing and mutilating his brother, appeared in court Thursday wearing a blue anti-suicide smock as he faced a judge for the first time since the heinous crimes.
Matthew Hertgen, 31, said nothing during the brief videoconference hearing — during which his defense attorney asked for a week-long delay to prepare and review the discovery.
Judge Amber Gibbs agreed, and set the next in-person court date for March 6 in Mercer County Superior Court.
Defense attorney Jason Matey also plans to meet his client in jail on March 4.
Hertgen was been charged with murder for the gruesome Saturday night killing in which he allegedly beat and stabbed to death his brother, Joseph Hertgen, with a golf club and a knife.
