This chaotic scene was caught on camera by Alkomait Hmidi, who said he filmed the footage on Sunday morning, March 9.
Since violence erupted on Thursday, the death toll has soared into the hundreds, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
By Monday, Syria’s government declared "mission accomplished," announcing the end of a security operation that saw them drive out fighters loyal to former president Bashar al-Assad from what they called “vital” locations.
