The Kremlin on Monday declared a 72-hour pause in fighting next month to mark the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.
The temporary truce is set to start at midnight on May 8 and last until the end of May 10, which aligns with Moscow’s Victory Day holiday.
“Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
“In case of violations of the cease-fire by the Ukrainian side, the Russian armed forces will give an adequate and efficient response.”
