“I still believe that, but, you know, it takes two to tango,” Trump told reporters about his ambitions, while adding that the topic of annexation wasn’t on the meeting’s agenda. The president then called the US-Canadian border an “artificial line” and said acquiring America’s northern neighbor would lead to a “massive tax cut” for them.
Carney, 60, shot back that Canada is “not for sale” and that the Canadian view on becoming the 51st state “is not going to change.”
“As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale,” he said.
