The US has imposed a 145% tariff on Chinese goods, while China has responded with a 125% tariff on American imports. Early on Friday, President Trump said that 80% tariffs on Chinese goods “seems right,” but Leavitt later backtracked, saying that the number was just something he “threw out there.”
