2:02Now PlayingAn unsuspecting retired Russian commander, Zaur Gurtsiev, was captured in surveillance video with an unidentified man in a darkened street, before the man appeared to approach Gurtsiev and an explosion filled the screen. Authorities haven’t disclosed what caused the explosion but local reports indicated a grenade or TNT sticks were to blame. Gurtsiev was hailed in his country as a “war hero” for leading a bombing in Mariupol that left 8,000 Ukrainian civilians dead in the early months of the war. The decorated former major was 34-years-old.
