1:05Now PlayingDuring a town hall on Friday, May 30, Iowa Senator Joni Ernst responded to a comment about Medicaid cuts by telling constituents: “We all are going to die.”
Ernst, a Republican, was speaking on Friday morning at her Butler County Town Hall Meeting.
As she was talking about proposed Medicaid cuts in the Trump administration’s domestic policy bill, someone in the crowd shouted, “People will die.”
“People are not – well, we all are going to die,” Ernst replied.
When the crowd responded negatively with shouts and jeers, she added: “For heaven’s sakes, folks.”
