President Trump ordered the Department of Defense on Monday to send out the additional troops just two days after his administration sent out its first round to help control the massive crowds of protesters in downtown LA. With the new group, more than 4,000 Guard troops would be stationed in the California city. Another 2,000 National Guard members will be sent to the Los Angeles anti-ICE protests in the coming days, according to Trump administration officials. It’s unclear how many federal, state, and local authorities have been sent to tackle the protests, but on Monday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that 700 active-duty Marines would also be dispatched.
