Passengers aboard Amtrak Train 94 endured a harrowing ride on June 23, after the train lost power and became stuck in a tunnel near Baltimore Penn Station during a scorching heat wave. With no electricity or air-conditioning, passengers were trapped for over an hour in sweltering conditions as outside temperatures climbed into the upper 90s — the hottest day in Baltimore so far in 2025. Video from inside the train showed passengers fanning themselves and rationing water as emergency lights dimly lit the crowded cars. A rescue train eventually towed them back to the station, where they disembarked safely.
