1:41Now PlayingFlorida State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith revealed in a TikTok post that he and other Florida state lawmakers were denied access to “Alligator Alcatraz,” the new migrant detention center in the Florida Everglades. “They’re not letting us in,” Smith said. “We have the statutory right as lawmakers to exercise oversight—not only over our state prisons, but also over detention facilities. It’s very clear in the law. But they have something to hide and they don’t wanna let us in.”
