YouTube Description
as posted by the channelA man in Grand Forks, North Dakota, captured the terrifying moment a paraglider struck a power line and fell into the Red River on Tuesday, July 8.
This footage, filmed by Dusty Howlett, shows the moment the parachute, on an electric paramotor, sparked after colliding with powerlines, sending a loud boom echoing.
“Whoa, oh no!” Howlett can be heard yelling the video, as the paraglider crashes into the river.
The second clip shows emergency crews retrieving the wreckage from the water.
“I was just going for a walk with Nate Millard and this guy in a powered parachute flew way too low and didn’t see the power line,” Howlett said in a Facebook post.
“He landed in the river and was waving and talking to us - water rescue is here now, so hopefully he will be ok. If you have a recreational aircraft, please be careful and pay attention to your surroundings!”
According to local news reports, the paraglider was uninjured.
