1:05Now PlayingHelicopter crews were seen dropping fire retardant over burning vegetation as a wildfire spread near Carbondale, Colorado, on Sunday, August 3.
Footage recorded by Barry Stevenson shows thick smoke and flames as the Coulter Creek Fire scorched brush and trees northeast of the town.
In a update on Sunday evening, the Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District said the fire had burned 115 acres with zero per cent containment. One outbuilding was destroyed, though no injuries were reported. Evacuation orders for nearby residents were also lifted.
“Firefighters on the ground worked aggressively to build fireline and protect homes while air crews made repeated water and retardant drops to slow the fire’s spread,” said Incident Commander Bill Gavette.
