The Global Sumud Flotilla [GSF] alleged Monday their leading “Family Boat” was struck by a drone and caught fire at the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said while its members were on board — however the Tunisian government said no drones were detected.
Tunisia’s Interior Ministry said that the allegations of an attack had “no basis in truth” and that the fire started by something onboard the boat. Tunisia’s National Guard suggested in a Facebook Post the fire may have been sparked by a cigarette.
National Guard spokesman Houcem Eddine Jebabli told the Agence France-Presse ”'no drones have been detected” and that preliminary findings indicate “a fire broke out in the life jackets on board.”
