4:44Now PlayingEnvironmental activists from the group Futuro Vegetal threw red “biodegradable paint” on an 1892 painting of Christopher Columbus at Madrid’s Naval Museum. The group said the act symbolized opposition to “centuries of oppression and genocide” tied to colonialism. Museum officials said the artwork, Primero Tributo a Cristóbal Colón by José Garnelo, was being restored. The two women involved were arrested and charged with a crime against heritage, according to El País.
