An ICE agent attempted to enter Ecuador’s consulate in Minneapolis on Tuesday but was blocked by consulate staff, Ecuador’s Foreign Ministry said. The ministry sent a formal protest to the US Embassy in Quito, calling the incident an attempted incursion and saying staff actions protected Ecuadorian nationals inside the building. The incident occurred amid a large federal deportation operation underway in Minnesota.
