3:42Now PlayingNewly released bodycam footage appears to contradict the Department of Homeland Security’s initial claim that Chicago teacher Marimar Martinez “ambushed” Border Patrol agents and rammed their vehicle during an October 2025 encounter. The video captures an agent saying “it’s time to get aggressive” and “we’re going to make contact” — just before the driver sharply turns the wheel left and a collision occurs, followed by five gunshots. Martinez survived the shooting and later had federal charges dropped, but DHS’s statement labeling her a “domestic terrorist” remains online. Court records also revealed text messages in which the agent allegedly bragged about firing five rounds after the incident, as Martinez now prepares to file a civil lawsuit.
