Royal Air Force F-35B jets annihilated uncrewed aerial drones over Jordan -- marking the first time the aircraft have destroyed targets during combat -- to defend "British interests and allies," according to the UK's Ministry of Defence.
The Ministry of Defence also released dramatic footage showing the drones being obliterated midair.
A British Armed Forces Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems team also downed drones in Iraq airspace that were headed toward coalition forces, while a Royal Air Force Typhoon eliminated an Iranian one-way attack drone targeting Qatar on Monday, officials said on Tuesday.
"The action was taken in defence of our personnel and allies operation in the area," Defence officials said.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Sunday approved a US request to use British military bases after UK nationals came under attack from Iranian drone and missile barrages.
The prime minister said the move was vital to protect the roughly 300,000 Britons in the region, as Tehran has targeted hotels and airports in Gulf nations with American military bases.
