2:02Now PlayingPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli troops will remain in an expanded security zone in southern Lebanon despite agreeing to a 10-day ceasefire, describing the area as a continuous strip from the Mediterranean coast to the Syrian border. Israeli forces are currently engaged in intense clashes with the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in the region. While Netanyahu said the ceasefire is intended to advance peace efforts and create an opportunity for a historic agreement with Lebanon, Hezbollah insisted any truce must cover all Lebanese territory and reject Israeli freedom of movement, warning that continued Israeli presence could justify further resistance.
