1:02Now PlayingHomeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin testified at a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on the department's proposed budget for fiscal year 2027. Early in his testimony, Mullin broke from his prepared remarks to directly confront Sen. Chris Murphy after Murphy suggested the agency was acting unconstitutionally. Mullin rejected the claim as “reckless,” defending DHS and its roughly 275,000 employees and accusing Murphy of making irresponsible broad accusations.
