The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) carried out a successful operation to pull two young boys out of the water after being trapped by rough waves under Blackpool Pier. The crew also rescued an older cousin of the two boys who managed to cling to the pier.
Although the responders noted that the two younger boys were "close to drowning" all three of the boys survived.
