1:17Now PlayingFederal and state agencies removed nearly 800 commercial truck drivers from service during the second phase of Operation Highway Shield, a three-day enforcement effort conducted July 28–30 across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Ohio. The operation targeted unqualified drivers and unsafe vehicles, with officials saying more than 50 people found to be in the U.S. illegally were detained and more than 30 drivers were placed out of service after failing English-language proficiency tests. The inspections involved the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and state highway patrol agencies.
