0:33Now PlayingA wild elephant chased a terrified farmer through a plantation in Central Aceh Regency, Indonesia, on August 30. Hendri and several friends were tending chili plants when they spotted three elephants drinking from a nearby stream and tried to drive them away. One elephant later entered the plantation and charged at Hendri as he filmed from a nearby road. He managed to escape into bushes, where he hid until the animal eventually returned to the forest. Authorities said the elephants were following a roaming route through an area they had not visited for years. Indonesia is home to an estimated 1,700 wild elephants, while more than 69 per cent of suitable Sumatran elephant habitat has been lost over the past 25 years.
