17:47Now PlayingPresident Trump said Tuesday he will hold extensive talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a two-day summit, with Iran expected to be a major topic. Trump said he does not believe the United States needs assistance in handling the situation, but noted China’s role as a major buyer of Iranian oil and described Xi as a “friend.” He also reiterated confidence that the U.S. will prevail in the conflict “peacefully or otherwise.” The comments come as China continues to maintain strong energy ties with Iran and as regional diplomatic efforts, including mediation attempts involving Pakistan, have so far failed to produce a lasting agreement to end the war.
