1:50Now PlayingFootage capture aboard the MV Hondius on April 12th, shows the captain giving an update on the situation. It was informed that a passenger on the ship had passed away. The captain stressed that it was believed to be from natural causes and not of contagious illnesses. The ship was forced to change its course to complete necessary arrangements following the events. The passenger had developed acute respiratory distress, though his death wasn’t linked to the rare hantavirus until weeks later. Since that first announcement, 2 other deaths have been reported, one of them being the wife of the first reported death.
