As a result of the cancelation of Thursday’s flight from Hurghada to Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, about 100 Armenian nationals are stuck in this Egyptian resort town. The flight was not conducted because the Armenian tour operator has not paid the airline that was to conduct this charter flight.
Some of the about 100 Armenian citizens who have remained in Hurghada due to the cancelation of the Hurghada-Yerevan flight are at the airport, whereas some others are in hotels. Rafayel Movsesyan, a consul of the Embassy of Armenia in Egypt, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia (RA) in Egypt has informed that the passengers who are stuck in Hurghada, and due to the cancelation of Thursday’s flight from this Egyptian town to Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, will be able to depart for Armenia Friday at 3 pm Egypt time—5pm Armenia time—onboard flight number UJ 5600.
Inspectors from the Anti-smuggling Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia have inspected an Iranian citizen’s luggage at the Agarak checkpoint at the border with Iran.
As a result, the inspectors have discovered 2.665,5 kilograms of an opium-like substance inside two metal parts for machine tools—and with the inscription, “Made in Azerbaijan,” SRC said.
The SRC has filed a criminal case into this incident, and this Iranian national has been arrested.
The command of the US Naval Forces will name its new warship (Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer) in honor of the famous American military figure of Armenian origin Paul Robert Ignatius (Ignatosian), the official website of the US Defense Department reported. According to the source, the ship’s official name will take place on July 27 at the port in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Armenian Justice Minister, Rustam Badasyan, has requested the Venice Commission to provide an opinion on the consequences of the ratification of the Istanbul Convention for Armenia, Venice Commission reported.
“The Minister of Justice of Armenia requested the Venice Commission to provide an opinion on the constitutional implications of the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) for Armenia,” the statement said.
