Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a video conference with experts from ELARD International Consulting Company to discuss the findings of the international expert probe into Amulsar Mine and the relevant analysis.
Pashinyan said several new circumstances emerged that need to be examined and assessed.
The experts of ELARD noted that, in essence, the measures proposed by Lydian are flawed, and in order for them to be complete, there is a need to reevaluate the assessment and, with the recommendations of a new Environmental Impact Assessment, to properly develop the mitigation measures.
A deputy from ruling My Step faction announced his decision to give up his parliamentary seat.
Edgar Arakelyan took to Facebook to announce his decision which was “not a demarche against the potential exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine, the potential ratification of the Istanbul Convention or any other process”.
“This is by no means an action against the My Step faction, which I have had the honor of being a part of for the past couple of months,” he said.
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan commented on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s absence from the upcoming events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the launch of WWII in Poland.
This is an extremely subtle and delicate issue for Armenia, he told reporters.
“Armenia has some reservations in regard to the discussions on this matter on different platforms. Our forefathers fought in the war, we had marshals, generals and Heroes of the USSR. We suffered a tremendous amount of casualties, and it is natural that this topic is a highly sensitive topic for us,” the minister emphasized.
Earlier the Ministry did not confirm Pashinyan’s attendance to the XXIX Economic Forum to be held in Poland as well.
The judge rendered a decision to detain former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan’s nephew Karen Khachatryan for two months, the reports suggest.

Gagik Khachatryan is also charged within the scope of the same criminal. He was arrested earlier this week.
