Defense ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan took to her Facebook to confirm two Armenia soldiers' deaths amid the aggravation of the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

"Major Garush Hambartsumyan and Captain Sos Elbakyan have been fatally wounded," she noted. "The Ministry of Defense shares the grief of the loss and expresses its support to the families, relatives, and colleagues of the deceased servicemen."

In the meantime, Azerbaijan reported the deaths of Major General Army Polad Gashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzoev.

The information was confirmed by Azerbaijani deputy defense minister, Lieutenant General Kerim Veliyev, Azerbaijani media reported.

The movement of the opponent's tank was observed at night from the combat positions of the Armenian Armed Forces, defense ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook.

According to her, the movement was stopped by the fire carried by the Armenian side.

"Now the border is relatively calm," she noted.

Ukrainian ambassador to Armenia Ivan Kuleba was invited to the Armenian MFA on Tuesday.

The envoy met deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan.

Shavarsh Kocharyan presented an assessment of the Armenian MFA on tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border following the Ukrainian MFA statement.

The Ukrainian MFA has earlier expressed deep concern in connection with the aggravation of the situation and noted that 'the Ukrainian side advocates a political settlement of the situation on the basis of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders.'

A criminal case was launched amid shooting in direction of Chinari village, the Armenian Investigative Committee's press service reported.

During the shooting, one of the houses was damaged, and its residents were forced to hide in a shelter.

The Azerbaijani armed forces fired 7 times from 82 mm mortars in the direction of Chinari village, said Defense Ministry spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan on Monday.

"There are no injured, only the roof of one of the houses was damaged," she added.

The world has reflected the tensions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

The United States strongly condemns the use of force on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, US State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

In turn, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appealed to Armenia and Azerbaijan to begin de-escalation of the conflict, the spokesperson of the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric reported.

In the meantime, US Senator Ed Markey says he stands with Armenia as 'they protect their territorial integrity.'

"Azerbaijan and Turkey must respect the Armenian/Azeri border, respect the aspirations of the Armenian people of Nagorno Karabakh, and should deescalate this conflict immediately," he tweeted.

US Congressman Adam Schiff said he is very concerned by the recent provocative and destabilizing actions taken by Azerbaijan in recent days along the Armenian border.

Manuel Conde Orellana, chair of the Guatemalan Congress’ foreign relations committee, has also commented on the aggravation.

According to him, the majority of the MPs of the Guatemalan Congress condemn the military operations of Azerbaijan directed against Armenia.

Armenia confirmed Tuesday 339 COVID-19 new cases, bringing the total number to 32,490, the health ministry reported.

According to it, 10,996 patients are currently being treated, while 20,729 people have already recovered, and the death toll has reached 581.

What comes to Artsakh, it has confirmed five COVID-19 new cases and all in Stepanakert. The total number of cases has reached 153 and 124 recoveries have been reported.
