COVID-19 IN ARMENIA

As of Thursday morning, 229 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of cases has reached 41,023 in the country.

Three people have died of COVID-19 in the past one day, and the overall respective death toll is 809 now.

The total number of people recovered so far is 33,897, and the number of people currently being treated is 6,079.

ARMENIA 'LEADS'

Armenia continues to “lead” the region in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths per one million people, as per Worldometers.

Accordingly, as of Wednesday, the number of cases per one million people was 13,764, and the number of deaths—272 in the country.

In line with the data per one million people, the respective “picture” in the region is as follows: Armenia ranks first with 13,764 people, Russia is second, Iran is third, Azerbaijan is fourth, Turkey is fifth.

Also, Armenia is followed by Iran, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia in the number of deaths per one million people.

According to the resource, Armenia ranks 53rd in the world in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths (40,794 cases and 806 deaths).

PUTIN AND ALIYEV TALKS

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have held a phone talk.

According to Azerbaijani media, the head of Azerbaijani state brought to the Russian President’s attention the fact that the intensity of delivery of military cargo from Russia to Armenia after the end of the clashes on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border—from July 17 to the present time—raises concern and serious questions of the Azerbaijani public.

President Ilham Aliyev said the volume of the military cargo transported from Russia to Armenia via the air space of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran immediately after the military clashes on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border to the present time exceeded 400 tons, emphasizing that the main purpose of the phone call was to clarify this issue.

ROAD ACCIDENT

A major road accident took place Thursday in Lori Province of Armenia, shamshyan.com reported.

Two vehicles crashed on the Tashir-Gogavan motorway.

As a result, both drivers and their eight passengers sustained injuries and were taken to the Tashir town hospital.

A report is being prepared on the incident.

TANKIAN DONATES $5,000

System of a Down rock star Serj Tankian joined the urgent assistance to Lebanese-Armenians fundraising campaign, donating $ 5,000.

The money will be directed to the most urgent needs of Lebanese-Armenians, The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund wrote on its Facebook.

The musician has already called on his Facebook page for help in Lebanon.

"Help those dealing with the devastation of the huge explosion in Lebanon," he wrote.
