COVID-19 IN ARMENIA
As of 11 am on Tuesday, 108 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of cases has reached 44,953 in the country.
Also, three more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 903 cases.
The number of people who have recovered over the past one day is 471, the total respective number so far is 40,592, and the number of people currently being treated is 3,182—which is a drop by 367 in one day.
A total of 221,041 COVID-19 tests have been performed to date.
COURT PROCEEDING
The administrative court has accepted for proceedings the joint petition by the opposition Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Homeland Parties—and which challenges the legality of the mandatory requirement to wear face masks in the country. Prosperous Armenia Party MP Iveta Tonoyan wrote about this on her Facebook page.
"I reaffirm once again that we will fight by all possible legal means against illegal restrictions on the rights of individuals," Tonoyan added, in particular.
RESTRICTION LIFTED
The restrictions on entering and exiting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) have been lifted.
The commandant of the current coronavirus-related emergency situation in Artsakh on Tuesday signed the respective decision, which enters into force upon issuing.
EX-CHIEF HAS NEW JOB
Davit Ananyan, former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia, has taken a new job.
According to his Facebook page, he now works as a consultant at DSA Advisory Group CJSC.
Ananyan had submitted his resignation as the SRC chief on June 4.
KOCHARYAN'S TRIAL
The Yerevan court session on the criminal case against Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and several other former senior officials will continue behind closed doors. Presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan made this decision in response to the respective request of defense attorney Aram Vardevanyan.
At one of the previous hearings, Kocharyan's lawyer had motioned to lift the attachment on the former president's property and had promised to submit an expert assessment of this property.
The lawyer said Tuesday that he has the relevant document, but asked the court to continue this hearing behind closed doors.
