Armenian News - NEWS.am presents the daily digest of Armenia-related and global top news as of 21.01.21:

A total of 3,450 dead bodies of Armenian soldiers have already been examined, health minister Anahit Avanesyan noted.

According to her, the average number of bodies being identified per day is 30.

When asked how many bodies remain unidentified, Avanesyan said she could not give a definite number. But according to her, the pace of identifying them has accelerated.

Over 2,300 people in Karabakh have petitioned to a reception center for help with missing persons.

The people’s reception center, where a hotline has been set up to gather information on the participants and the missing persons during the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)], continues its work in the capital Stepanakert.

The search for these missing persons is carried out by the Russian peacekeeping contingent, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and representatives of the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides.

Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan has been relieved of his duties as Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

He has been appointed Patriarchal Nuncio-at-Large under the patriarchal direction of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Thursday.

At Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government, a decision was made to appoint Hovhannes Harutyunyan as Shirak Province Governor, replacing Tigran Petrosyan.

PM Nikol Pashinyan noted that Harutyunyan had previously served as Deputy health minister.

Joe Biden has been sworn in as US President.

He pronounced the traditional text of the oath with his left hand on the Bible which has belonged to his family since 1899 and became the 46th President of the USA.

This same Bible was used by Biden during his inauguration as vice president in 2009 and 2013.

“History, faith and reason show the way,” Biden said.

During her husband's inauguration, US First Lady Jill Biden wore a blue tweed coat with velvet cuffs, and a dress embellished with Swarovski crystals and pearls designed by Colorado-born designer Alexandra O'Neill of the emerging American label Markarian.

The President has already reversed many of ex-president Donald Trump's decisions.

He has already signed an executive order on the US rejoining the Paris Climate Accord, from which the country had withdrawn after Trump’s coming to power.

Meanwhile, following the inauguration, China has caught the moment and has imposed sanctions on 28 US citizens, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, for insane actions that have seriously affected the internal affairs of China.
