Armenia marks army day; Armenian, Azerbaijani, Russian Deputy PMs to meet on Jan 30, 28.01.21 digest

Armenian News - NEWS.am presents the daily digest of Armenia-related top news as of 28.01.21:

Armenia marks Army Day on January 28.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan visited Yerablur Military Pantheon and noted that "the Armenian army is a source of our national pride."

Current president Armen Sarkissian and ex-president Serzh Sargsyan were not able to visit the pantheon as they are fighting the COVID-19.

However, tributes were paid on their behalf at the pantheon....

Leaflets that read "Eliminate the traitor" could be seen all over the central streets, bus stops, and subway stations in virtually all administrative districts of Yerevan since early Thursday morning.

In all likelihood, 'traitor' alludes to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Second President Robert Kocharyan on Wednesday gave an interview to three media outlets.

During the interview, Kocharyan noted his intention to run in elections.

According to him, snap parliamentary elections in Armenia are dangerous today - in the absence of answers to these contradictions, uncertainties, and very sensitive questions.

"I will definitely run in the elections [...] yes, we will run, we will fight, and we will win [the elections]," Kocharyan added....

Three more soldiers' bodies have been found during searches in Artsakh.

Two bodies were found in the Martuni region, and one in Jrakan (Jabrayil).

Searches continue Thursday in Jrakan and Hadrut.

A total of 1,321 bodies have been found since the beginning of the search.

Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Russian Deputy PMs to meet on Jan. 30 in Moscow.

During their trilateral meeting in Moscow on January 11, the leaders of the three countries reached an agreement to set up a trilateral task force for de-blockage of all economic and transport relations in the region...

Russian and Armenian FMs have discussed the implementation of Nagorno-Karabakh deals signed on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021.

Russia's Sergei Lavrov and Armenia's Ara Aivazian have also spoken about security aspects, humanitarian component, unblocking of economic and transport ties, Russian MFA noted....

Aeroflot Russian Airlines will cancel several international flights.

Flights from Moscow to several destinations, including Yerevan, will be canceled from March 28 to April 30.
