ROADS
The secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, said that a political decision is needed if an agreement is reached with Azerbaijan on the logic of unblocking regional roads.
"There is a need to decide which roads we will use, or which entrances we use for unblocking," he said.
The Azerbaijani side has earlier informed the Armenian side that it will perform the function of border and customs control on the Goris-Kapan motorway in the Syunik Province, meaning it will set up customs points.
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan has already rejected the reports that the Syunik 'is being handed over in parts.'
"Today in the government we were talking about the fact that the government is making an allocation of 9 billion drams to involve all children in the educational process in only one community of Syunik," he added.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan said it is ready to sign with Armenia a peace agreement that will recognize the two countries’ territorial integrity within their internationally recognized borders. The statement came from Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov while addressing a meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
US SENATE
The US Senate Armed Services Committee, chaired by Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed, is set to consider three key amendments, the Armenian National Committee of America reported.
The amendments include including cutting off US aid to Azerbaijan (enforcing Section 907), investigating US parts/technology in Turkey’s killer drones, mandating a US Department of State war crimes report
SWEDEN
Armenian citizens who have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus will soon be able to travel to Sweden without an entry ban or additional travel rules, such as a COVID-19 test requirement.
The Swedish government on Thursday adopted amend¬ments to the tempo¬rary ban on entry into Sweden, according to a statement from the Swedish Ministry of Justice.
The amendments will enter into force on November 15.
VARIETY
Variety magazine has released its “Hollywood’s New Leaders of 2021” list, Netflix director of original content, American Armenian Aram Yacoubian, 31, is also on it.
Yacoubian, who has been working in Netflix’s toon unit since its early days, now co-leads its independent animated film division, which has been firing on all cylinders of late, overseeing sourcing, development, and production from indie sources. He brokered a deal with Aardman Animation, with ‘Chicken Run 2’ on deck; brought in catalog titles from Studio Ghibli; and developed global hit ‘Mighty Little Bheem,’” Variety wrote regarding Yacoubian.
OSCE
The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group released a statement on the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov.
The Co-Chairs and the Ministers discussed the status of the implementation of the commitments made in the November 9 trilateral statement [on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict - ed.].
The Co-Chairs reiterated the importance of making progress on humanitarian issues and called on the sides to provide unrestricted access to international humanitarian organizations.
COVID-19
As of Friday morning, 1,309 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of these cases has reached 326,830 in the country.
Also, 70 more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 6,937 cases.
