Preliminary reports from authorities suggest the victims were asleep while they were attacked. But the stabbings occurred on two different floors, raising the question of how people weren't awakened during the attacks. Andrew Bringuel, a former FBI profiler, said it would be “nearly impossible” to kill somebody with a knife without eliciting a response.
