3:33Now PlayingAttorneys general for 21 states are calling on President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to designate Mexcian drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
In a letter sent Wednesday, the Republican state officials said the cartels pose a severe threat to the nation and have caused a deadly drug crisis that killed more than 100,000 Americans last year. Now, those criminal organizations have expanded their influence beyond the sale of lethal drugs, the AGs wrote.
Steven Duncan, a retired special agent from the California Department of Justice joined NewsNation Prime on Sunday to talk about the issue.
