3:14Now PlayingData released by the Pentagon this week to a group of senators shows that from 2017 through 2022, 15,293 service members overdosed on illicit drugs, according to Rolling Stone. Of these overdoses, 332 were fatal. More than half of these deaths were connected to the synthetic opioid fentanyl.
Seth Harp, the Rolling Stone reporter who wrote the story, and a veteran himself, says there are a number of factors that can lead people to substance abuse, such as war trauma.
