10:28Now PlayingSchools opened Tuesday in some sanctuary cities across the country with tens of thousands of children who illegally crossed the border packing already overcrowded classrooms. In New York, the city is struggling to place migrant students who came over the summer in addition to the 19,000 school-aged kids who enrolled in New York Public Schools over the last year. Vickie Paladino, a councilwoman representing northeast Queens, says in an area she represents, there are about 500 kids waiting around the corner to get into public schools. She said: “It is absolutely, totally out of control.”
