YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe famous southern accent might be a thing of the past. New research by the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech shows the influx of people moving to the south may be destroying one of its most identifiable features — their accents. The study found that southern baby boomers in Georgia still have the famous southern drawl but starting with Generation X, there’s far less of an accent. Jon Forrest, co-author of the study and UGA assistant professor in the department of linguistics, joins “On Balance” host Leland Vittert to discuss the research.
