Samaritan’s Purse to hurricane victims: 'God has not forgotten you' | One Nation Under God

While not competing with the government, local churches and faith organizations are a vital resource for thousands of families who are mourning the loss of loved ones, and trying to put their lives back together. One of those faith organizations with the largest footprint is Samaritan’s purse, a 50-year-old organization with six current sites to assist flood victims.

Samaritan’s Purse is an international faith based organization founded by the son of famed evangelist Bill Graham, Franklin Graham. The group is meeting the needs of communities hardest hit by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. On this episode of One Nation Under God, Adrienne Bankert talks with Luther Harrison from Samaritan’s Purse. With hundreds of people killed, and dozens still missing, the recovery from this devastating storm is far from over. Luther shares that Samaritan’s Purse was one of the first groups on the scene in North Carolina, how prayer is a key to their mission while meeting tangible needs like rebuilding homes and helping with clean up across the state as well as in Georgia and Florida. Harrison shares about the call to serve all people regardless of their beliefs who are in the worst moments of their lives and shares the importance of partnering with local churches. He also appeals to every church to wake up, get out, and help. His message: “Through the storms, God has not forgotten you. God walks with you and loves you.”
