Donnie is best known for fronting the band “.38 Special” while Johnny is best known for taking over as lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987 following his brother Ronnie's passing. The duo are now reunited under their name, Van Zant, for the first time in two decades.
The pair talk about how their father's homespun preaching and the childhood faith that has stayed with them, culminating in a desire to write faith-centered music. Johnny opens up about dark times in his life and how if it was not for his faith, he would not know where he would be today. Johnny also discusses grief, sharing how he was able to not stay mad at God after the death of his eldest daughter.
The brothers also share the inspiration behind their new album and offer advice for up-and-coming artists looking to break into the music business.
