Roberts originally claimed she overheard Karen telling a friend to Google “hypothermia” the morning officer John O’Keefe was found dead, but on the stand, she admitted someone “told me to say it.” That crack in the prosecution’s case gives Read’s team serious momentum. Later, O’Keefe’s mother testified, painting Read as cold and self-interested, but the day ultimately tilted in the defense’s favor.
