29:17Now PlayingThe retrial of Karen Read, the Massachusetts woman accused of striking her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, with her car in 2022, began this week, and prosecutors have already used media interviews she’s given in the past against her in court.
Read had given multiple media interviews, including to Vanity Fair, “Dateline,” “20/20,” and for the docuseries "A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read," where she spoke about her criminal case after her first trial ended in a hung jury last year.
While rare, Read is not the only high-profile defendant who has talked to the media before a criminal trial. And it doesn't always go according to plan.
