Children across the United States are accomplishing all sorts of amazing things.
To tell these stories, NewsNation is introducing “Whiz Kids,” a new series that introduces viewers to these ambitious American youngsters with big plans.
For instance, 10-year-olds Carter and Cooper Thomas are well on their way to chasing their dreams of becoming sports reporters. The twin brothers have already interviewed a collection of baseball legends, and they’ve received some advice from “American Ninja Warrior” host Matt Iseman.
Additionally, 7-year-old musical prodigy Jelijah Diaz joins “Whiz Kids” to perform live for hosts Connell McShane and Mr. G.
Carter and Cooper Thomas estimate they’ve attended 50 to 60 games involving their beloved New York Yankees.
But the fraternal twins, who are the faces of the Instagram account “Twinstripe Reporters,” are finding their voice by lending their analysis on the Bronx Bombers. Their Instagram account, which began last summer, already has nearly 6,000 followers.
The twins, who reside in Marlboro, New Jersey, have become known for their trademark matching suits, which feature the familiar pinstripes of the Yankees.
Carter and Cooper’s aspiring broadcasting careers are already off to a fast start. They’ve interviewed Yankees’ legends David Cone, CC Sabathia, Don Mattingly, Darryl Strawberry and Ron Guidry, Yahoo! Sports reported.
Another former Yankee superstar, Alex Rodriguez, sent the twins a private message on Instagram, encouraging them to “Keep chasing your dreams in sports journalism. You guys are naturals.”
At just 7 years old, Jelijah Diaz is no stranger to fame.
Jelijah has been taking piano and violin lessons since he was 3 years old, and he went viral at age 5 because of his ability to play the piano blindfolded. Jeliah, who hails from Miami and is gifted with perfect pitch, caught a big break when he was invited to perform on the “Jennifer Hudson Show.”
Jelijah has built a large social media following on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, wowing audiences with his ability to identify any musical note by simply hearing it.
Jelijah has big dreams, telling Hudson on the show that he wants to be an “astronaut and Mozart” to accomplish the feat of playing the piano on the moon.
“I like challenges,” he said.
