Sean “Diddy” Combs' racketeering acquittal is one of the most high-profile failures of the long-used criminal charge, and his trial has highlighted the complexity of building an illegal enterprise case.

While federal prosecutors secured a conviction on the lesser charge of transportation to engage in prostitution, they lost Combs on sex trafficking and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Law, or RICO, which both carry potential life sentences.

Sara Azari is joined by former federal prosecutor Mack Jenkins and NewsNation’s Safia Samee Ali to break down what happened with the RICO charges in Diddy's trial, and how it differs from past high-profile cases from Al Capone to R. Kelly.
