A hearing today in a Long Island serial killer case could set a new precedent for using advanced DNA techniques in court. Rex Heuermann is accused of killing at least seven women between 1993 and 2010. One victim, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, was found in 2010 with only bones and a hair strand, which initially didn't produce DNA evidence. However, seven years ago, a California lab used whole-genome sequencing to extract DNA, and a judge has ruled the method admissible in the case. Forensic DNA expert Suzanna Ryan joins "NewsNation Live" to explain how the technique differs from traditional DNA analysis and its use in other cases.
