Rex Heuermann is accused of killing at least seven women between 1993 and 2010. One victim, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, was found in 2010 with only bones and a hair strand, which initially didn't produce DNA evidence. However, seven years ago, a California lab used whole-genome sequencing to extract DNA, and a judge has ruled the method admissible in the case.
