UPDATE: Federal and state officials said a 22-year-old from Utah was in custody Friday after the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and Gov. Spencer Cox called for a deescalation of political violence.

Tyler Robinson has been arrested and booked into a Utah jail, authorities said. He was taken into custody late Thursday night, police said, after confessing to his father.
