The shooting took place at 17th and I streets NW, near Farragut Square, with police advising people to avoid the area, close to the Farragut North Metro station, about two blocks from the White House.
The area is busy and heavily traveled, with a heavy security presence due to its proximity to the White House and other federal institutions. The shooter is in custody, according to D.C. Metro Police. More
