The former secretary of state battled her political foes and questioned why she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were being deposed when President Donald Trump, who appears in the files more than both of them combined, was not.
Controversy arose when committee member Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was caught breaking rules by sending a picture from inside the deposition to a conservative influencer, who posted it on social media. Boebert joined “CUOMO” to give her side of the story, along with her Democratic colleague who was also in the deposition, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia.
ICE is under fire for detaining a Columbia University student in a campus building agents allegedly entered under false pretenses. The student was released after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, already at the White House for a meeting with President Donald Trump, asked the commander in chief to let the student go.
The story comes as a newly released internal memo shows the agency is “struggling” to vet its new recruits after last year’s hiring surge more than doubled the size of its force. Now many recruits’ background checks are stalled because of the high volume. Chad Wolf, who led Homeland Security in the first Trump administration, and Andrea Flores, a former Homeland Security official in the Obama administration, discuss.
