She fell in love with pole vaulting, which she hopes to continue in college, after her friends introduced her to track and field. "There's something about flying through the air that's very exhilarating," she explained. When she isn't competing on her school's track team, Mia is the stage manager for the school play. "I probably am living my dream right now, I'm in high school, I got great friends around me, I got great extracurricular activities," she said. “My American Story: Celebrating 250 Years” honors the people, traditions and values that define our nation.
