On this episode of "Cuomo Crimetime", host Chris Cuomo revisits a case he calls the most disturbing he's ever covered. In October 2020, Taylor Parker killed 21-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock in her New Boston, Texas home and removed Hancock’s unborn daughter, in an attempt to pass the baby off as her own. Both Reagon-Simmons and her unborn child died. A jury later convicted Parker of capital murder and sentenced her to death, of which she still awaits on Texas death row.

Chris speaks first with Reagan's mother, Jessica, and sister, Emily about the person they thought was Reagon’s friend, the morning Jessica found her daughter, and their push for legislation that would make faking a pregnancy a crime. Chris then speaks with Jessica Dimmock, director of the Netflix documentary Maternal Instinct, on why she decided to re-tell this complex story, the way she did. Chris closes this episode by speaking with Forensic Psychologist Dr. John Mathias, as he unpacks the psychology of deception, humiliation, and dehumanization, comparing Parker’s case to Mackenzie Shirilla’s. The question running underneath all of it: evil, sick, or both?
