International law matters — but intent still shows up in the math.

Did Israel violate international law? Possibly — like nearly every country involved in prolonged warfare.

But international law only works when both sides recognize it. When one side ignores every rule of war — uniforms, civilian protection, proportionality, and distinction — the framework breaks down.

That doesn’t mean “anything goes.”

It means intent must be judged by outcomes.

With the scale of explosives used, indiscriminate or intentional civilian targeting would mathematically result in far higher death tolls. The numbers don’t support that claim.

You can criticize war while still analyzing it honestly.

Statistics matter. Intent matters.
